Most of my amigurumi projects go straight to the gallery but I thought in case of bigger projects (or questions and tips for great unknown websites!) a forum thread would still be interesting.

Here are two work in progress shots of my first Free Spirit crochet doll.
On the first picture is the finished doll, nude. It has pipecleaners in its legs so they can bend, but it still can't stand on its own due to the way the legs are crocheted to the hips. For the template maker the possibility to seat the doll properly was more important than a doll that can stand. I leaned her against that vase. You can see the childlike body proportions here as well as the thick mohair wool hair.

The other picture is a close up of the eyes which are painted with acrylics on linen and then were glued on.

The finished doll is here in the gallery:

I can't believe I missed this when you posted it! She's so cute! Like, REALLY cute! =D <3
Up there just me and my shadow, no bass, no guitar, no tambourine. Then I found you like a melody, you were singin' in the same key as me. <3

Thank ye! I like her a lot too even though she's not that fitting to make Seekers dolls. Still, perhaps I'll make another one of her one day so she has a friend.

Here are some work-in-progress shots of what keeps me busy night and day for over a week:
Horse handbags for my husband's little nieces.

I had to start over four times until I got the pattern hammered down for my purpose. I use a different hook size than suggested because I couldn't get the suggested strength of wool and thus I had to adapt a lot to achieve a nice size. I also wanted to go for a more Filly-like look so I made some deliberate changes to the head (it's shorter than the original) and the legs (they don't have that fluffy ring, originally).

I work on these all day for over 7 days now but it's slowly all coming together. Still 5 legs, 3 saddle halves, the 4 handles and an ungodly amount of hair to make. I want to make them crocheted ringlets instead of lose wool hair so they won't fray and tangle so fast.
I will decorate them with sequins, possibly fastened with rocaille beads and maybe I'll add some tiny bows I bought. They'll get special doll eye buttons as eyes which look like glass eyes from the front but are sewn on like a button at the back. That seems safer to me than using glass eyes which can rip out of the wire loop on their back if a child plays too wild.

Btw, I got the crochet pattern from here:
kristieskids.weebly.com/1/post/2007/11/horse-purse-pattern-at-long-last.html

These are the biggest crochet things I ever made. My hands hurt like hell and I didn't get anything else done for a week but I hope the little ladies will like them. It just feels nice that my craft is appreciated for once, so it's fun and rewarding to spend my time on this.

In theory I may even sell these handbags but the material is so expensive that I doubt anyone would pay me what I would have to ask. Still, they will make nice items for the gallery. ^^

Here are some more recent photos. By now they only need decorations, eyes and more hair strands. Since I do the sequin decoration on the saddle before sewing on the bag straps the pink one still is without them. That way I can hide the ends of the sequin ribbon beneath the strap - they're a bit frail.
I hope to get them completed this weekend. The girls can decide whether they want horses or unicorns, so I might have to crochet two small horns too but that's quick work.

We bought the eyes two days ago. The pink one gets yellow eyes which complement the yellow mane greatly and the green one gets a greenish/grayish hue.
