Cherry Tree
Image information
Weird, I was pretty sure I took a picture of the second step but now I can't find it. Anyway, I painted some rough branches, also in watercolour. I used several shades of brown but kept it pretty basic as I don't want the branches to take away all the attention. Strangely enough one of the branches bled pretty heavily into the background although I let the background dry for several days. Luckily that will be hidden by a large cluster of blossoms.
Anyway, here's a picture of the work in progress. The upper branches are all done. I use large white discs, 4 sorts of large sequins (white, light grey, clear and bordeaux) and 4 sorts of small sequins (clear, light grey, light pink and bordeaux). The idea to fold the discs in half and make them into half-open blossoms I got from a premade set made by Rico Designs which depicts - coincidentally - also a cherry tree.
At first I also used other shapes of sequins - flowers, stars and butterflies - but that looked too wild and I removed them. As this is for the bedroom I want a little bit of calmness and order in it.
