Shortly after Sinistra carefully slipped around the protective sheets into the kitchen.
"Eternia! Here, look! I found the brim! How do you like it?"
The blonde had a sceptical look on her face. "Oh well. I was hoping for something a little more fancy but it's okay."
"What, you don't like it?!" The elementalist was disappointed.
"Now don't start crying!" Eternia snorted amused. "It's just that I would have chosen something with a pattern instead of a gold trim. But the colour seems to match the wallpaper well enough, so it's okay for me. Do you have enough of it?"
"Yes, I already did the measurements. There's enought brim for the whole room! The paint is dry already too, so I can start right away."
"So then - go! What are you waiting for?"
"You're sure you don't dislike it?"
"Jeez", Eternia sighed. "I thought we had agreed on taking compromises? If I thought it's unbearable I would have said so, believe me."
"Okay." Sinistra didn't sound fully convinced.
"Let's make it so: We use this plain brim here and to make up for it we'll choose something with a pattern for the sofas later. Okay?"
"Yes, that sounds fair. Let's do this."
"Okay. Then let's start now, it's getting late."
In a good mood Sinistra returned to the livingroom. There she noticed that Eternia had put a bright pink shelf there. "Whoa..." said the woman and stopped in her tracks. She kept pondering back and forth before she brought herself to call out into the corridor.
"Eternia, what about this shelf here?"
"Now, what about it?" was shouted back.
"Is that supposed to stay here? I thought it was to go into your room?!"
"Can't do that, the colour clashes with the existing furniture there!"
"Uuuh... No wonder! It's screaming pink!"
"Do you mind?" Eternia called downstairs.
Sinistra gulped. "To be honest... it does, somewhat!"
"Let's discuss this later, you sound coarse already from yelling!"
"Alright..."
It took the young woman about 90 minutes to decorate the whole livingroom with the brim. Then she was done. Sinistra took a deep, relaxed breath, put away the chair she had abused as a ladder and was just on her way to the door to tell Eternia when she already swept into the room.
"Hey Sinistra, how's it going here?!"
"Yikes! You're just in time! I'm done!"
"Duh! Let me see!" Eternia took of her soiled hat and looked around. "Well, doesn't that look noble! In my opinion we did a great job renovating this!" she said satisfied.
"I agree, the room looks much more inviting than before."
"He he, to hear that from you after you pretended this to be a palace in front of the landlord." Eternia grinned, which startled Sinistra. "It is a palace, though! I had already viewed three small appartments and you won't believe what I had to see with my very own eyes..."
"Sheesh, don't take everything literally." Eternia rolled her eyes.
Sinistra harrumphed. "So to talk about your shelf again..."
"What about it? It's as good as brand-new!"
"True, but it is... pink."
"So? Pink matches the orange of the wallpaper. And your purple brim too, in case you don't notice."
"But the sofa has blue cushions..."
"Right now. As soon as we can afford it the fabric will be changed." Eternia's tone of voice didn't leave room for discussion. "Additionally, the table is pink too."
"Alright." Sinistra bit her lower lip, which made Eternia sigh. "Well, here's an offer from me! The shelf stays and you may use the middle panel for your things. Then you don't have to walk up to your room for every small thing. How's that for a compromise?"
"Hmm", Sinistra mulled it over. "Yes, I'm fine with that. But we won't put any other furniture here, okay?"
"Sure. There's only space above the bed left, anyway."
"Well then. So in long term we want to reduce the amount of different colours here?"
"In a few weeks the only blue thing here will be you, promise!" Eternia grinned again and turned toward the door. "Do you want to see the finished kitchen now or not?"
"What?! You're done already?!"
"Sure. Follow me!"
"Good grief..."
