"How can I get an avatar?"
There is a vast range of avatars you can choose from in your profile and as an alternative you can request a private avatar.

It's not possible to upload an avatar yourself to prevent art theft.
All avatars in the non-private galleries of this forum have been drawn or photographed by me, Eph. (*see exceptions below!)
They are free of copyright issues, but not free to use somewhere else.
The gallery is constantly added to, and if you miss a specific motif, just let me know and I'll see what I can do.

You may only use avatars from the "private" category that have been uploaded specifically for you.

About other artists
Avatars starting with "dee_" feature art by Dee Dreslough, with permission.
Avatars containing the word "Batchix" are made with permission from drawings by Batchix.
Avatars that sport a logo made of rectangles are from the free to use avatar pack from www.allavatars.com

About the avatars in the folders Men_sims and Women_sims

The motives for these avatars come straight from the Sims download section of my website. All textures on hair and faces have been drawn by me. The meshes (3D models) of these models have been made by other people mostly, though.
For detailed credits on the meshmakers, please refer to the download sections of my website.

You can request a private avatar in this thread if you follow these rules:

- Preferably it should be your own artwork or a photo you took.

- If it is not your art you must have permission to use it as an avatar.

Two reliable sources for avatars are:
www.dreslough.com
Dee allows to use her artwork and alter it to your needs. (Some of her art can already be found in the public avatar list here.)
www.allavatars.com
is a very reliable source for legal avatars, because it is run by artists themselves.
Or if you speak German, there is also the Avatarschmiede where 3D artists render avatars especially for you.
It's also possible to ask artists on DeviantArt, Elfwood etc for permission, or you can ask in the artwork board if someone could make your motif for you.

Tons of other avatarpages just steal. So I expect prove from the original artist, not from a shady "free" avatar service. Even if an artist allows that you use a few of his pics on your website that doesn't mean he gave you permission to alter them into avatars, so make sure to ask.

- The avatar may not exceed 100x100 pixel. It must be gif, jpg or png and may not contain animations or gross motives.
