Inspired by the 'Disney Ribbons' over on tumblr I decided to make some mini hair bows inspired by, not disney, but FranKo and Dave Giles. I've also recently been thinking of doing one inspired by the characters from FFIX, but I'd have to really sit down and think about what colours represent each character.

So far I've made three.
The first one pictured, modelled by my Punzie doll, is on a French Barrette clip.
The second is on an alligator style slide clip and is for my friend Holly. She's got shorter hair than me so a Barrette wouldn't be any good.
And the third is on a regular hair slide clip and is Dave Giles inspired. He has different colours as the backgrounds on his badges, as well as his merchandise. Hoodies are purple, T-shirts are green and his badges have been or are green, purple, white, blue, pink and red. (I think he's done pink anyway).

I've also bought some wider purple ribbon and narrower green so I can remake the Dave one, possibly a little bigger. I've also considered getting some cheapish headbands and putting them on those. It's something to think about for sure.

Yeah. at the December FranKo show I bought a set of the new badges and they seemed perfect to go in the middle of these bows. I might see if the manager has any of the older design left, as I actually prefer the older logo over the new one.

I'm on the lookout for some 25mm black ribbon so I can make a slightly larger one. But of course the local hobbycraft didn't have any black satin ribbon in 25mm yesterday. Typical.

A Larger Dave Giles inspired one. Possibly my favourite if I'm honest.
That Blue tartan/plaid ribbon was just far too cute not to buy a metre. <3
And the Green/white/silver one is again, inspired by Dave, although it's the wrong shade of green. His T-shirts are green with white writing you see.

First two are on headbands that I covered with ribbon. They're not really anything special, I just thought they looked quite nice really.
The last one was made for my sisters girlfriend, and hasn't been uploaded anywhere else as it's a surprise for her (She'll never look here so it's cool).

Really? You have trouble getting hold of 3mm ribbon? That sort of surprises me...

I've mostly been using 15mm ribbons, but the purple organza was made using 10 and 5mm because that's what I had. And the larger colourful one uses the 20mm Purple and 3mm other colours.

Any that have a 'stripe' are actually two pieces of 10mm with the 5mm across the middle. It's really quite effective at hiding the 'join' line. =D

Oh wow. I really neglected posting here! I've made so many since the last one!



I pinned a piece of velvet ribbon to the top of my wardrobe to hang these from. You can't see it, but I have a different kind of hair grip clipped to the bottom of the ribbon, weighting to so that some of these sit straight. Like the one with the daffodil on it.



Some detail of the flowered bow. I made those flowers too. They were really easy. XD



A bit of detail of the larger Dave bows. The top one was made using 30mm purple, and 10mm tails, they're all curled. The one below was made with 25mm purple, 10mm purple tail and 'knot', the other tails are 3mm. Again, all curled, but the 3mm doesn't take the curl that great.



The blue and purple organza ribbon. Inspired by a song with the line 'I wanna be blues, I wanna be greens, I wanna be, flying on dragonfly wings'. I would have put a dragonfly in the middle, but as is typical, my charms have disappeared. Instead there's some beads to add something to the 'knot' =).



Had a problem with this one. I got glue on the 'tails', and because I thought it was the ribbon I was using for the 'knot', I just cut it off! Only after this did I realise it was a tail, and that, actually, hot glue comes off this kind of ribbon really easy! So I lost one pony from each tail. oops.



This one's still unfinished. It needs a key on the 'knot' and the clip on the back. But it's the same as this next one, which I made to clip onto the band on my favourite hat.

Of course ephie! Next time I make some (I plan to cover an entire headband with them at some point), I'll make a little photo tutorial for you!

This one's for my friend Holly and actually used up all I had of the blue and red ribbon.

Yeeeah, I agree, but I don't know how or even IF I can make a star from ribbon, and I don't have any stars that would work. Ideally I'd like to have a pin badge of Cap's shield to pin to the knot section.

Not just yet I'm afraid.
I did complete a 'set' of bows I was working on though.

I have a list of bows I need to design first, and then I'll get them made and post some photos!
For now I've taken some photos of the book I'm using for all of my designing.

First two are of the Dissidia collection WIP, last is of the Disney Princess WIP collection. =D

I've been using a 'pinch clip' in my own hair for about a week now, and decided it was about time I made a bow for it instead of using the bare clip.
excuse the bad webcam image, but here's what I came up with, I think it's pretty cute!

There's potential for them to be smaller! I found while making this one, that it's actually not too hard to work with narrower widths. I could have a look and see what I can do!

Hee. Just looked at your comment about being a burglar in a library again. Most of those behind me are CDs or DVDs, but there are a few books.

Oh ephie! The salt, paper and vinegar are just there because it's the dinner table.

Cinderella and Snow white bows. In two sizes! With ruler for more accurate comparisons of size!

And here we have something new! HURRAH!

First up is a Mini Snow White bow my friend Vicky commissioned me to make for her friends 18 month old daughter. Modelled by Animators collection Punzie to show the size.

And then we have Aurora and Rapunzel. Both now added to the collection available for sale. =D

And Belle. But there's something not really quite right about Belle...

That's an idea...
Vicky said it looked to straight, Belle's dress is quite wavy and rounded after all. She also said maybe make the rose smaller. (Easier said than done when working with ribbon)

Mum says she has an idea, but she needs to get the ribbons herself to show me what she's thinking.
Also found that by making the bows a little bit smaller (As in not so wide), they curve more, and actually do look nicer too.

My friend Jade asked me to make her a GB inspired bow! This was the design she liked best! Have to say, everyone that saw the initial designs liked this one best too! I know I do!

Found a few photos of my collection that I took relatively recently.
Also discovered I lacked mini bows so sat and made myself a wee army. XD

The army of mini bows! I found that using sticker backing sheets stops the glue going through and sticking the clips together. 8D

And finally a photo of a ton of bows I found in my boxes that I haven't put onto clips. They're the prototype princess bows (For the most part).

That's the idea. XD I guess it makes people want 'ALL THE BOWS' so they spend more money. =')

Also! I'm considering maybe having a table at MCM expo in October, selling these things. =D
