My firstborn colour scheme is pale yellow and dark green. Character models will be pale yellow and blue. To achieve the squares I first finished the lighter colour (yellow). Then the pattern was painted on with an ink pen and lastly I filled the squares with green.

Guess it's about time I started painting his comrades...
