For this fire faerie a different method was used. To make this thin strands of wool are wrapped around a skeleton made of pipe cleaners. Often this is actually enough and you only need the needle to felt the underskirt onto a polystyrene cone and to make details.

For this faerie I used cheap wool in screaming neon colours to first test the technique. Believe me, the orange is MUCH brighter than on the pics. When the idea to make her a fire faerie came to my head I was quite pleased with the colours though.
