Shortly after, everyone had met up in the livingroom.
"Tamara, do you want to stay the night?" asked Eternia.
"Since I promised Giselda to help her in the morning, that would be very convenient."
"You can share my futon with me; it's big enough for two."
"What? In one bed with you? No thanks."
"Huh? Why not?! You don't think I would mistake you for a man, do you?!"
"Of course not." Tamara kept a straight face. "But you kick around in your sleep."
"Hey!"
"If you have a spare blanket I'll just sleep there." She pointed to the old kitchen bench.
"What?! Are you crazy?" Eternia tried to lower her voice so Elizabeth didn't hear her. "You don't want to sleep near her, do you?!"
"Eternia, no need to hyperventilate. I see no reason not to sleep here."
"But she's a..." the doll hissed resentfully but she was interrupted by her friend. "Just give me a blanket and I'll be fine. Thanks."
The blonde sighed. "Fine. As you wish. Then sleep here."
"I feel like a little girl", Nareen admitted when she was dressed for the night. "I'm so excited! The first night in our new bedroom and tomorrow it's the first Christmas party of my life!"
"This'll be the biggest party ever for me, too," Eternia agreed. "We didn't have any parties where I used to live."
"Do you think everything will be alright?"
"Psh, of course! We did our best with the deco, didn't we? And Giselda worked her fluffy bum off in the kitchen."
"I'm just sad we can't help her with more."
"I tried, but she shooed me away."
"Same here. Seems she only trusts Tamara to help her now."
"Tamara the cooking apprentice." Eternia giggled at the thought.
"Well, I hope she'll be a better apprentice than me! I'm terrible at cooking!"
"Me too."
Giselda and Akshi came in. "I brought Tamara a blanket." the wingling said while making herself comfortable on the sofa.
"Gosh, I hope she'll be alright with the vampire near her." Eternia murmured.
"There are vampires around here?! Do tell!" Nareen and Giselda said simultaneously, their eyes wide open.
Eternia dragged the blanket over her head. "I can't take any more of this today."
A few hours later the house lay still. Everyone was sound asleep.
No, not everyone. Elizabeth entered the livingroom and walked silently up to Tamara's makeshift bed. She bent down slightly. Her sleeves and the folds of her skirt rustled softly, then she left the room again.
Tamara opened her eyes. She hadn't been asleep. Instead she waited for proof of her theory, and now she had it.
"I knew it. Elizabeth isn't a run-of-the-mill vampire." she whispered and grinned to herself.
Filou yowled silently in his sleep.
