Description

This model was a gift from Micha from Essen. He made it in CAD way before we took our own first baby steps in 3D modelling. I was very happy about it and printed it in white and transparent.

It's meant to be used in our tabletop wargames.

These models have not recieved clean-up yet, so you can see how there is "spidering" between parts whenever the extruder has to stop the flow of filament to bridge empty spaces. After printing, the models can be cleaned up with a scalpel easily, so it isn't a big problem. Filament is made from e.g. maize though, so its fibres fray a bit.

Transparent filament also requires some extra care. It's not just more fragile than other colours, the printer also doesn't close the surfaces 100% (it never can). If you only want to paint such a model partly the colour seeps into the model and stains it, which is very obvious with light colours and extremely obvious with transparent items. My solution for that was to seal the models with clear varnish and additionally seal the transitions between painted and natural areas with brush-on varnish before painting.
