It was still early in the morning and the sun had just risen when Ghoulia brought her moped to a screeching halt and entered the backdrops of Dolltopia with hasty steps. She was a bit late - and as a zombie she was almost always late, anyway. Surely the others waited for her already. Determined Ghoulia bit her lip and walked even faster.
Her worries volatilized shortly after when she reached the livingroom and heard happy voices chattering inside. Seemingly nobody was angry at her belatedness. "Hhhhrrr?" Ghoulia asked cautiously after she entered the room and had taken a good look around. Dottie Rose, Zompunzel and Zombirella raised their heads. "Hnnnn, hnnnn gnnnn!" everyone greeted merrily. Curious faces looked at her. "Nnnnrr gnnn", Ghoulia apologized for her late arrival and the others nodded sympathetically. The teenager respired in relief.
Still, Ghoulia wasn't fully satisfied - some of the zombies were missing. Of course she knew that Slo Mo didn't take part in the class but where were Mss. Eerie and Yuki Onna, who, although not being a proper zombie, still had signed in for the class? She decided to ask Dottie who was good friends with both of them.
"Haaar gnnn hahaaaak?" she moaned in a friendly tone. Dottie looked at her confused and Ghoulia repeated the question in a clearer way.
"Aaaaah!" Dottie Rose had caught on. She thought for a moment, then she moaned and grunted an answer. Ghoulia nodded understandingly. If Eerie was ill and Yuki had a dress rehearsal there was nothing that could be done about it. Surely Dottie would pass on all important info from their meeting to both of them later.
Since Dottie was standing up anyway Ghoulia kept talking to her.
"Graaaak! Gnnnnn hrrrr hch", she moaned. Her dialogue partner reprised the words and added: "Hnnn nngggg! Cccchhhrrrrk!"
Ghoulia was thrilled. "Nggg naaaa, gnaaaa aaaaak?" she asked. Dottie thought for a while again and answered eloquently: "Mmhh gnaaa huuurgh haaaah." Ghoulia nodded.
Their talk went on for a while. Zompunzel and Zombirella listened intently and from time to time chipped in with short phrases. After a while Ghoulia turned towards them too and started to ask questions. Zompunzel, who was still quite new to the class, started to skip a bit on her seat whenever she was embarrassed because she didn't have an answer and Zombirella had to step in for her. "Gnuuuu hrrr?" Zombirella inquired sympathetically and when Zompunzel nodded she added: "Nuuu gnnnn, haaaa aaah grrrrn hhh!" She winked. Zompunzel sighed.
After about an hour Ghoulia said goodbye. If she didn't want to miss the first class of the day she needed to get on her way to Monster High urgently now. Although missing out wouldn't be that much of a problem since the first class was physical training - everytime she was done with the warming up for casketball the others were already done playing and the class was over. She was only the mascot, anyway. Still, Ghoulia didn't want to be late twice in a single day. Agressively she set her glasses right and raced to the door.
The others waved their hands and yelled: "Hnn nnnngh! Nyuuuu!"
Ghoulia laughed about the innuendo and disappeared.
She was barely outside when Zombirella took a loud breath. The other two were relieved too. Zompunzel stood up and started to comb her bangs with her fingers. Dottie was so unkempt that Zompunzel was embarrassed how unzombielike nicely her hair was today. Zombirella rose too, organized the folds of her skirt and turned towards the others.
"Alright", she said, "anyone joining me for a visit at McKitty?"
"Oh, great idea!" said Zompunzel enthusiastically, "My throat is terribly dry from all that Zombitalk! I urgently need a coffee and a bagel!" - "Yes, you're right. As much as I like Ghoulia, this language is so hard on the throat."
"I think it's great of her to teach this class!" Dottie said in a happy tone. "Without foreign languages you just don't get anywhere. Although it's a bit strange that Ghoulia herself only speaks Zombi." - "Yeah, especially in the beginning it was really hard when I couldn't understand what the teacher says! As far as I know she can read way more languages, though." Zompunzel chipped in and Dottie nodded. "I heard that too. Granted, it is hard, but if you can't speak Zombi as an Undead you never get a decent role in one of those soaps." - "Preach to the choir!" Zombirella moaned. "And here I thought I would just have to sleep with a producer to get a role in Dolltopia! Zombitalk is worse than my worst expectations!"
The others laughed politely about the non-serious saying of her friend. Zompunzel turned towards Dottie. "What about you, are you coming too?" - "Ugh, no, thanks. If I don't finish my homework for computer science today the professor will rip off my head!" - "Especially in that case you should at least got yourself a coffee for work!" - "You're right. But I won't stay for a whole breakfast menu!"
Zombirella tilted her head slightly. "Computer science of all things... Well, I would rather prefer to study arts pr philosophy." - "Or biology or chemistry! Then we could research ways to become normal fairytale characters again!" Zompunzel chipped in enthusiastically.
Dottie laughed. "I dunno, computer science is just so much fun for me. Ghoulia is also a real genius about computers. Perhaps it runs in out blood that us zombies are so smart?"
"Yeah, sure, that's it!" laughed Zombirella, put her tiara straight and advanced out of the room.
Zompunzel missed the joke and said, lost in thought: "Sometimes I wish I was a true zombie instead of a cursed princess! You guys are cool!"
Dottie smirked broadly. "Don't tell that to Eerie, though, she piques herself on her bachelor in mathematics way too much!"
